How Pepsi Survived

When Pepsi started, it's founder went broke after World War I, Pepsi was then sold again, again, and again after being bouched around for at least two decades, it ended up being owned by the Loft candy company. What kept it alive during the depression was the idea to sell it in 12oz bottles versus Coca Cola's 6 oz bottles and the asvertising jingle-Pepsi Cola hits the spot, 12 full ounces, that's a lot, twice as much for a nickel too, Pepsi Cola is the drink for you. After the war Pepsi had to regroup again, this time under the leadership of Joan Crawfords husband Alfred Steele, a super salesman who left a Coca Cola vice presidency in 1949, he took 15 men with him, and revitalized the Pepsi brand, Steele told the bottlers: "You can conserve your way to bankruptcy or you can spend your way to Prosperity," In other words: AVERTISE.
